Effective May 2026
Privacy Policy
BeWake helps you turn off an alarm by scanning a real item. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the controls you have.
Information you provide
We collect the information needed to run BeWake, including your Sign in with Apple account identifier, optional Apple-provided name or email address, app settings, selected wake item, support messages, content reports, and any Feed content, replies, reactions, or profile details you choose to create.
Information collected automatically
When you use BeWake, we may collect technical and usage information such as alarm time, wake-session status, verification results, notification state, device install identifier, app version, error logs, timestamps, IP-derived region, security events, and actions taken in the app. We use this information to operate, secure, debug, and improve BeWake.
Camera scans
BeWake uses your camera when you open the scanner or respond to an alarm. Scan images are processed to determine whether the required item is visible. To provide this feature, scan images and related metadata may be sent to our backend and to AI service providers, including OpenAI. We use scan images to operate verification, improve reliability, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot the service.
Photos and shared posts
Feed sharing is optional. If you choose to share a wake result, BeWake may store and display post metadata such as item name, verification confidence, timestamps, reactions, replies, reposts, reports, follower relationships, and moderation status. Images shown from your device may remain local unless a feature clearly uploads or shares them.
Notifications
BeWake uses local notifications and alarm-related alerts to notify you when an alarm is due. You can manage notification permissions at any time in iOS Settings. Disabling notifications may prevent alarms from alerting you outside the app.
How we use information
We use information to create and manage your account, schedule alarms, verify scan results, sync app state, operate social features, moderate content, respond to support requests, protect the service, debug issues, comply with law, and improve app performance and reliability.
Service providers
BeWake uses service providers to operate the app, including InsForge for backend services and OpenAI for item verification. These providers process information on our behalf so BeWake can provide account, database, storage, AI verification, and security features. We do not sell personal information and we do not use your data for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.
When we share information
We may share information with service providers that help us run BeWake, with professional advisers when needed for legal, security, accounting, or compliance purposes, with authorities if required by law or to protect users, and in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets. We may also share information when you direct us to do so, such as when you post to the Feed.
Account, deletion, and retention
You can sign out, clear app data, delete shared posts, or request account deletion from the BeWake app. Deletion is designed to remove your account record, saved alarm data, wake history, social profile data, and local app data associated with your device. We may retain limited records when needed for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, backups, dispute handling, or moderation integrity.
We keep information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this policy. Account and app records may be deleted or anonymized after prolonged inactivity. Backup copies and security logs may take additional time to expire from our systems.
Permissions and choices
You can control camera and notification permissions in iOS Settings. You can choose whether to share wake results to the Feed, follow or unfollow users, hide posts, block posters, report content, and delete your own shared posts. Some features may not work if required permissions are disabled.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to your information, correction of inaccurate information, deletion, portability, restriction or objection to certain processing, and withdrawal of consent where processing is based on consent. You may also have the right to appeal our decision on a privacy request. To exercise these rights, contact us using the email below.
California and U.S. state privacy notice
We do not sell personal information and do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We collect the categories described in this policy, including identifiers, app activity, device and technical information, user content, support communications, and limited inferences needed to operate item verification and safety features.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect information. No internet service is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee that information will never be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed.
Children
BeWake is not intended for children under 13, and users under 13 may not use the app. If you are under the age of majority where you live, use BeWake only with permission from a parent or guardian. If we learn that we collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take reasonable steps to delete it. If you believe a child provided information to BeWake, contact us.
International processing
BeWake and its service providers may process information in the United States and other countries where privacy laws may differ from those in your location.
Changes
We may update this policy as BeWake changes. If changes are material, we will update the effective date and provide notice where appropriate. Continued use of BeWake after an update means the updated policy applies.
